ABOUT ATACAMA SEA SALT
Atacama Sea Salt is a Chilean company that arises from the opportunity to use the natural processes of the Atacama Salt Flat in northern Chile, to generate low sodium salt through a natural and sustainable process. The final product is a sea salt low in sodium, natural, and completely clean of contaminating agents.
We believe that our role is really important today. Concern about excess sodium is a real problem in the world, in addition to the major pollution problems at sea, which affect most of the salts currently sold.
Our focus is on the client, we want to accompany them and deliver the best quality salt. We are constantly adapting to current regulations on food products, environment, sustainability and job security.

Despite what many people think, most dietary sodium (over 70%) comes from eating packaged and prepared foods—not from salt added to food when cooking or eating. The food supply contains too much sodium and Americans who want to consume less sodium can have a difficult time doing so. That is why the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is working with the food industry to make reasonable reductions in sodium across a wide variety of foods.

The close relationship between hypertension and dietary sodium intake is widely recognized and supported by several studies. A reduction in dietary sodium not only decreases the blood pressure and the incidence of hypertension, but is also associated with a reduction in morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular diseases.

“Recent studies have found plastics in seafood, wildlife, tap water, and now in salt. It’s clear that there is no escape from this plastics crisis, especially as it continues to leak into our waterways and oceans,” said Mikyoung Kim, Campaigner at Greenpeace East Asia. “We need to stop plastic pollution at its source. For the health of people and our environment, it’s incredibly important that corporations reduce their reliance on throwaway plastics immediately.”
